Outstanding Rating Support for Care Services

Outstanding is achievable. If your service is rated Good and you want to go further, I help you understand what Outstanding would look like for you, build it into everyday practice, and make it visible.

Who this is for

"We are rated Good but I cannot picture what Outstanding would actually look like for us." That is the most common starting point, and an honest one. Outstanding is not a longer list of the same things, and it is rarely about more paperwork. In my experience it comes from care shaped around each person, a culture where staff feel able to try new ideas, and leadership that keeps learning.

This service suits providers rated Good who want to go further, and providers already rated Outstanding who want to hold on to it.

How I work with you

Finding the Outstanding practice you already have

Most Good services have pockets of excellent work that nobody has written down: a carer who knows exactly how someone likes their morning, an activity that has changed a person's week, a relationship with a local group that nobody thinks to mention. I help you find these, understand why they work, and spread them.

Building an excellence framework

Together we set out what excellent care means in your service, linked to CQC's five key questions and quality statements, so everyone is working towards the same picture.

Innovation and improvement strategies

Practical ideas that fit your people and your budget, tested on a small scale first, then built on where they make a difference.

Continuous improvement programmes

Outstanding has to last. I help you set up a rhythm of review, feedback and improvement that keeps the service improving after the excitement of a new plan fades.

Award and recognition preparation

Recognising your team matters. I can help you prepare applications for care awards and other recognition, which also gives you a clear account of what makes your service special.

What Outstanding can look like day to day

In my experience, services that reach Outstanding share some habits. People who use the service, and their families, help shape how things are done. Staff know the people they support as individuals, not as a list of tasks. Managers are visible on the floor, and learning from mistakes is shared openly rather than hidden. None of this needs a big budget. It needs time, consistency and leadership that keeps asking how things could be better for each person.

Evidence without extra paperwork

Under CQC's assessment framework, people's experience of care sits at the centre of the evidence. So much of this work is about helping you show what already happens: feedback from the people you support and their families, observations of care, and staff who can explain why they do things the way they do. The quality statements become a practical checklist for your own reflection rather than a hoop to jump through.

An honest word about ratings

I cannot promise you an Outstanding rating, and nobody can. The rating is CQC's judgement. My job is to help you build the kind of care that deserves it, and to make sure the people assessing you can see it.
