Personal Mentorship for Care Managers

Managing a care service can be lonely. My mentorship programme gives care managers and senior staff a one to one space to think, plan and grow, with someone who has done the job.

Who this is for

"As a manager I carry the weight of compliance on my own, with nobody to test my thinking with." If that sounds like you, mentorship can help. It suits registered managers, deputies, new managers settling into the role, and senior carers who are ready to step up.

I started in care as admin support and worked my way through to Registered Manager and Regional Crisis Support Manager. I have delivered 4,000 weekly hours in domiciliary care and led teams in residential homes supporting more than 100 people. I know how heavy the role can feel, and how much difference it makes to have someone in your corner.

How mentorship works

Personal development planning

We start with where you are now and where you want to be. Together we set out a development plan that fits your role, your service and your ambitions.

Leadership skills

Supervision, delegation, difficult conversations, building a team that stays. We work on the leadership skills that matter most in your service right now, using real situations rather than theory.

Decision making support

When a hard decision lands on your desk, you can talk it through with someone who has faced similar ones. I will not make the decision for you, but I will help you think it through clearly and with confidence.

Career progression guidance

Whether you are aiming for registered manager, a regional role or something new, I can help you plan the steps and build the experience you need.

Ongoing professional support

Mentorship works best over time. Regular sessions give you a steady space to reflect, celebrate progress and work through whatever the week has brought.

Common themes

Many of the managers I mentor are working through similar challenges. Recruitment and retention, where "We lose good carers almost as fast as we recruit them, and agency cover is eating the budget." Building a culture where people feel known rather than rushed. Preparing for assessment without passing the stress on to the team. Finding the confidence to lead people who were peers last month. These are the conversations that help most.

What mentorship is not

It is not an audit and it is not a judgement. It is a space where you can be honest about what is hard, think out loud, and leave with clearer next steps than you arrived with.

What you have at the end

More confidence in your own judgement, a clearer plan for your development, and practical leadership skills that show up in your team, your service and the care the people you support receive. As I often say, you must care to care, and that includes caring for the people who lead.

Running a service in Scotland?

I support Scottish services too, working to the Scottish standards and quality framework rather than the English ones. Read how I work with services in Scotland.

“Thank you so much, I had such a lovely day with you today, I only wish I had met you months ago, your passion and support given is so addictive and welcomed to want to drive any home manager to grow and improve”
